Ever wondered where Ugg Boots came from? Well, it all started in 1978 when a yound Australian surfer called Brian Smith went to the United States with a bag full of sheep skin boots. After the Californian surfers loved the boots, the Ugg Australian brand began to take shape.
In Australia the phrase Ugg Boots is a generic term for sheepskin boots. Lots of Australian companys made sheep skin boots but it was only in the 90’s when Deckers Outdoor Corporation Ltd did the Ugg Boots become very popular.Deckers laid claim that they were the inventors of the Ugg Boots, but they just make the quality Ugg Boots that all the celebritys wear.
In 1998 is when the Ugg Boots really took off. This was through the positioning of the Ugg Boots as high end luxury foot wear brand, and marketed into fashion magazines. The brand steadily grew, gaining a lot of recognistion through celebritys wearing them and the careful markerting into the fashion magazine making them the desirable Ugg Boots they are today.
